TsomgoLake Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m (12,313 ft), the lake remains frozen during the winter season. The lake surface reflects different colours with change of seasons and is held in great reverence by the local Sikkimese people. Buddhist monks prognosticated after studying the changing colours of the lake. In Tibetan/Bhutia/Sherpa language the name མཚོ་མགོ་ Tsomgo is made of two words 'Tso' meaning "lake" and 'Mgo' meaning "head" which gives the literal meaning as "source of the lake",  the lake is surrounded by steep mountains which are covered with snow during winter.

The earth is perfumed with scented water and strewn with flowers, Adorned with Mount Meru, the four continents, the sun, and the moon. Imagining this as the buddha realm, I offer it so that all beings may enjoy that pure realm.

Anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni's first truning Dharma Wheel. Drukpa Tse-Zhi, which means Sixth month's fourth day. It on this day Lord Buddha gave his first teaching to first five students and turn on wheel of Dharma. Lord Buddha after attainment of Enlightenment didn't teach anyone for 49 days as it was very difficult for lay people to understand it. Lord Brahama and Lord Indra also known as ( Lhahe Wangpo Tsangpa and Gyalzin) as per Buddhist philosophy requested lord Buddha for Teachings. So on the 49th day of enlightenment lord Buddha gave his first teaching to five favourite students also known as Khor-nGa-Dey- Zangpo on four Noble Truth.
