World Water Day

  Today is World Water Day it is observed on March 22 every year to highlight the importance of freshwater and make people aware of why it is important to save water. In 1992, the United Nations (UN) had adopted the resolution A/RES/47/193 and declared that March 22 will be celebrated as World Water Day every year. This year, the theme for World Water Day is "Valuing Water" and "a conversation about what water means to you". The theme of World Water Day 2021 is “Valuing Water” and has been chosen to highlight the value of water in our daily lives. Let's save and wisely use water as needed. Let's plant and care for trees to pass on springs for a sustainable future. World Water Day, saving water, Save water for future, inheritance of springs, World Water Day.

World Sparrow Day

World Sparrow Day World Sparrow Day. Every year March 20 is observed as World Sparrow Day to raise awareness about the bird. The need for marking this day was felt due to the tremendous decrease in its population. The house sparrow is on the verge of extinction. The initiative was started by Nature Forever Society (NFS) of India, founded by Mohammed Dilawar, an Indian conservationist.  He started his work helping the house sparrow in Nashik. He was also named one of the Heroes of the Environment for 2008 by Time magazine for his efforts.  The first World Sparrow Day was celebrated in 2010 in different parts of the world.  Increased use of pesticides, change in the pattern of buildings and gardens missing from the houses have become the main factors why the number of sparrows has declined sharply in the past few years.
